The
Missouri Folk Art Shop and Gallery is a not-for-profit corporation. We are here to inspire continuation of the
tradition of Missouri folk art by providing an appropriate venue and business
operation that will—allow Missouri folk artists the opportunity to exhibit and
sell their art; give instructors classroom space; provide demonstrations;
periodic programs with speakers and trunk shows; and hold social gathering days
for artists and patrons.
Folk
art is inspired by tradition, community, and culture. Historically, folk artists have been trained
informally, learning their crafts from family members, artisans, and friends,
or relying on self-taught skills. Our folk artists today, are still
creating unique works that reflect the pieces' utilitarian roots and employing
new materials, viewpoints, and techniques.
We are anxious to exhibit and promote our wonderful artists and their beautiful
talents/skills and we are looking forward to all the educational opportunities coming up.
